Members of the Waco-Central Texas Chapter of The Links, Incorporated showed up in true Links fashion during a festive Friendship Tea in honor of National Friendship Month in November.
“To our delight, approximately 30 of our chapter members attended our Friendship Tea—each one participating fully, donning beautiful hats, fascinators, dresses, gloves, and the like for the event held during the chapter meeting,” said Cris Houston, who served as a Bee Sweet Hostess for the meeting with Chapter member Nicole Williams.
Houston noted that combining our organization’s commitment to friendship and service, the four F’s- friendship, fellowship, food, and fun--were displayed during the celebration.
“A sisterhood bonding activity entailed collecting socks and holiday greeting cards. As one of our holiday service projects, we addressed the cards during the event,” she said. “We will deliver them to senior citizens in local nursing home facilities.”
Vice President Debra Simmons-Evans noted the chapter’s display of sisterhood in its continued collecting of socks in conjunction with commemorating our chapter’s 50th Anniversary.
“We had fun, but we also worked during this celebration,” she said. We continued to donate socks for our 50th anniversary philanthropy that we to members of underserved populations in the spring.”
Sister members enjoyed moments of sisterhood, delicious food, assorted teas, and great company, said Waco Central (TX) President Sandra Forsythe.
“In true Links fashion, we honored our platinum and alumna members by presenting each one a colorful bouquet,” she said. “It warmed my heart to see their smiles.”
We took many photos—making new memories—and shared photos taken through the decades, which we truly enjoyed. Pictures are worth a million words and a sign that we celebrated in true Links fashion!
